Business rates to go up by 2% not 5%

The BBC are reporting that the Chancellor Alastair Darling is to u-turn and put business rates up by 2, not 5%. I’m glad he’s doing this but in these times we need a complete freeze on business rates to stimulate our economy and stop businesses, and hence jobs, from collapsing.
Mr Darling said the… Continue reading

Merkel to Brown: “We can’t afford more borrowing.”

Gordon Brown would like to think he’s leading the world to economic recovery. His current plan is to have another massive spending binge, this time co-ordinated by the G20, who meet later this week. He would like to waste more money, and create a bigger burden for future generations to pay off. We’re already in as much… Continue reading

Government want to track you on Facebook

We had our biggest run on a British bank in 100 years in the form of Northern Rock last year. Since then things have spiralled downwards. In September Bradford and Bringly was nationalised, and in October the government delivered a £50 billion bank rescue package… Continue reading

Browns Borrowing Highest Since 1946

It has emerged that borrowing in the 3 months to June soared to £24.4billion. The biggest since 1946 when huge amounts were borrowed to rebuild after the Second World War. Although not just this, because the whole of the welfare state was also created around this time under Clemant Attlee. This included nationalisation of many… Continue reading

Crewe and Nantwich By Election

I was in Crewe and Nantwich the weekend before the election helping leaflet and canvas. Apparently there were around 500 helpers on that day, it was organised brilliantly, like a military operation.

This is me with some Conservative Future members on the day, with Eric Pickles MP.

Post Office Closures

Labour MP’s campaigning locally to keep post offices open, have voted to close them in a vote in the House of Commons last Wednesday. My MP Greg Pope, voted to close the post offices claiming the Conservative motion didn’t show how the post offices would be paid for. Had he attended the debate that lasted… Continue reading
